As you stroll down the Kunduparamba Road in the outskirts of the legendary Kingdom of Zamorin landmarked by the All India Radio Station and Edakkad Post Office out there in the tranquil lap of nature you spot a unique double storied edifice named Al Haramain English School –a Senior Secondary School run by The Calicut Charitable Trust, Kozhikode. The Trust was founded in the year 1988 with the intention of rendering services in the educational, cultural and social fields.
To satiate the quench for a school as good as Haramain of today, a Management Committee was constituted. At the outset Mr. T Arifali was the President, Mr. Usman was the Member Secretary and Mr. M A Ahammed Kutty – the then Manager of the school. At present Dr. P. C Anwar is the President, Mrs. T. M. Safia is the Member Secretary and Dr. Abdul Azeez – the Manager of the school. The school is a member of the Malabar Sahodaya Schools complex – an association of the CBSE schools and the Integrated Education Council India (IECI). The strength of the school is 1670 including the Kindergarten section.
Our avowed objective is to render the best possible education both academic and value based without compromising on the basic fundamentals and we shall strain every nerve to see that they leave the institution strong enough to conquer the world with confidence and courage with an unflinching sense of fairness and justice. They should be bold enough to withstand the social evils and temptations lurking in every nook and cranny of this changing and challenging dangerous scenario. This is what Al Haramain English School stands for.
Now we are in the 3rd decade of the institution. The journey has been tumultuous and arduous at times, but always exciting and rewarding. There have been victories and vicissitudes, pleasant and challenging experiences. We have taken all these in our stride and managed to battle the odds sticking on to the firm conviction that it is worth heading a noble cause.
Back in the mid nineties- in 1995 be precise- a period where Calicut witnessed the mushrooming up of several English medium schools sans moral education and the whole educational scenario sprawling dire straits, an urgent collaboration of values with academics seemed to be the need of the hour. Harping on this dilemma a couple of noble hearts and sane souls sat together to chalk out a permanent solut ion and hit upon the concept of a school with both academic and moral values. At this ecstatic moment, all the angels from the heavens descended chanting prayers and praising the Almighty and blessed the novel venture on the command from above, Lo! It was inscribed in golden words- Al Haramain English School in the chronicles of Calicut.
The school prepared itself for a very humble origin in Link Road, Calicut in the heart of the city with 75 students and 7 members of staff. Well that was just the beginning of a long successful meaningful journey. The reputation of the new venture spread far and wide and admissions poured in. We were forced to move to another building opposite AIR station Puthiyangadi as a transit before the completion of this double storeyed edifice which we proudly now.
Here we stand in total satisfaction with a remarkable strength of 1670, a staff of 80 members, sophisticated labs, smart class rooms and above all a separate building for our Montessori section- The Ripples.
Now there is no turning back and the rest is history. We still continue pruning our wings to soar higher and wider and conquer pedagogic zone in all dimension.
We are committed to delivering quality education on par with the changing global education paradigm, nurturing the whole child with attention to physical, emotional and social development, nourishing the implicit potentials and inherent abilities of children to help them make it big in their life.
Al-Haramain English School seeks to provide value-based education, focusing on academic excellence coupled with holistic personal development. It undertakes to educate, equip and empower students guided by basic human ethics.
